WHAT HOUSING SHORTAGE???

Housing shortage to quadruple: HIA
(http://www.smh.com.au/business/housing-shortage-to-quadruple-hia-20100318-qgzu.html)

It would be a lot cheaper for everyone if those without a house to laze-in were given a ute like mine, and a tray-full off tarpaulins?

WHAT HOUSING SHORTAGE???

“The Housing Industry Association (HIA), which represents the building industry (funny that?!), sees a need for 466,000 new homes to be built by 2020. The gap currently stands at 109,000 homes, the group said.” (unquote, the SMH article)

I add the “funny that?!” bit because it appears that it is THEY, HIA and the “housing industry”, who control the building of accommodation.

Not so very long ago, young couples had the time, motivation and basic knowledge necessary to BUILD THEIR OWN HOMES.

Safety is an issue, I concede. But surely the education system is not so degraded that it cannot teach kids how to swing a hammer, slide a saw, eye-up a set-square, read and even design a building plan, and toddle down to the hardware and buy the bits and pieces?

With all the technology of internet advice and short courses, et al, and that old lovely of neighbourly work-groups, everyone should be able to have a nice little home at minimum cost and effort?

But OH NO! Not today, mayteee! You gotta pass all the regulations, design apps, trade quals, council limitations, BANK APPROVALS and every other fabricated hurdle before YOU can build yourself and your family some accommodation!

BESIDES? Where you gonna get the TIME??

The banks and the filthy-rotten government taxation system has you working 27 hours a day just to keep a job, let alone to own your own business, home, family and 4x4 speedboat!

And here we have a bunch of totally dishonorable politicians waiting with frothing mouths to shit-can the Henry Tax Review idea of introducing a National Land Tax?

And what about those of-late silent “Construction Unions”? Are they at all interested in making life easier for Australians?

Not while they are very cosy chasing-the-Joneses in the queen-sized bed with the “The Housing Industry Association (HIA), which represents the building industry”!

MORE MC-MANSIONS! But just for the private-school graduates, and the off-shore (off? SURE!) Unionists.

And don't you DARE even think about “Collective Accommodation” for large ORGANISED Groups, or OH NO Extended Families!

“Ah?”, bleeted Tony HEY! Abbott. “I thunk we shood hire white Christian contractors to build three bedroom houses for all the Aborigines to expire in, and right out there in the desert, where they belong!”

He'd as likely win the election if he put that up as Liberal policy, because squillions of white, Catholic construction Unionists would be right behind him!

Ooooooow! I'm pushing the boundaries now, aye?

“The strong economy has helped drive up house prices, with the increases exacerbated by lags in housing construction.” (unquote SMH article) writes the SMH reporter Chris Zappone.

Nothing to do with the millions of hectares locked away in the hands of unscrupulous land owners, waiting for their chance to rip-off the many when our filthy rotten corrupt land-grabber STATE governments change the zoning regulations and release MORE LAND for the most unsustainable concept of Human habitation, known as SUBURBS?

“Sub”-something!

But what else can we expect from the Sydney Morning Herald, which makes most of it's profit from real estate advertising?

Zappone wins today's “30-Pieces Of Silver Award”! (An award sponsored by the HIA and bedfellow Construction Unions.)

Well done Chris!

A few more of those type of BULLSHIT articles and you too will be able to own ANOTHER block of flats!

(Talk to the HIA!)
