Refugee Issue Needs A Fresh Approach

130501 JUST DEFIANCE Refugee Issue Needs A Fresh Approach Edition

ABC News online Wed 01/05/13

Refugees from regions far worse off than Australia will not stop coming here.
So a mature and independently thinking government, indeed parliament, must begin seriously at a new plan for dealing with all such arrivals.
The situations elsewhere are on downward slides, to an ever-worsening condition.  Therefore refugees seeking asylum here will only increase.
It's quite understandable that our authorities try to dissuade such victims of foreign powers and wartime abuses, but it clearly will never work.
So, short of waging a violent war against them, we are far better humane people to look at beginning a new chapter in immigration.
Come down to it, who are we, to act as judge to others, when we, and our relatively recent white ancestors, were also refugees from Britain?  Aside from the fact that it is not "our", referring to the whites of us, land to make these decisions!
If neither political power here can move forward with dignity and wisdom, compassion and common humane sense, then they are not fit to have the "authority" we give them.
But as well, there really has to be a fresh look at the whole global refugee reality.
All parties to now have failed miserably and criminally in how they deal with this worldwide issue.  The United Nations is absolutely toothless, and is a sham, especially in this arena.
For none of the world's mainstream media to see, deduce and "pick-up" on this travesty and failure of our very humanity, also indicts them as guilty of war-crimes, and crimes against humanity.
Move forward Humanity.  Move forward.  Grow UP!
