I add support to this assertion, if not this irrefutable FACT, by adding the link below to perhaps one of the best newspaper articles I've read in recent times:
Though in my own ironical way of seeing things, the article is about the negs, of over-confidence, thus to me, is something of an elixir, or an indication that my manner, loosely called "Cautious REALism" is in fact the right way to be in this otherwise awry and disgustingly corrupt and perverse world.
Also, I offer my thanks, belatedly, to my Stern and Righteous Step-Father, Allan Nichols Cook-Meredith.
Kids and parents, perhaps step-fathers getting the often hard time from spoiled step-children especially, would do well to read this, and to "ask" the brats to read it too, and even to write their own review of it, for their own edification.
Not merely from my own experience, of being a step-child to an ex-Commando Sergeant-Major, but it is fairly common knowledge that step-Dads get a very hard time of it.
But I'd reckon, that they're more often doing their intelligent best for the kids, if they do treat the youngsters with a harder attitude.
Kids can't always appreciate the deep wisdom in the old adage of "spare the rod, and spoil the child!"
I reckon it took me a few serious challenges as an adult before I realized it's worth.
A valuable read for parents, no question.
And, for those riding a wave of inherited wealth, yet to be knocked off their perches by reality.
